Mr Monkey came to Phoenix tower, which is also known as the King Charles tower, because in 1645 King Charles went onto this tower to watch his army being defeated at the battle of Rowton Moor. Mr Monkey tried to get into the tower, but couldn't, then looked at the towers of the cathedral and the town hall across the playing fields.
