Mr Monkey walks the walls of Chester

"We'll come back here another time"

Mr Monkey beside the Addlestone tower Mr Monkey walking past Chester Cathedral

Mr Monkey left the wall to go into the grounds of Chester cathedral. The cathedral is the third church on this site. It started in 1092 as a Benedictine monastery, and only became a cathedral in 1541 when the monastery was dissolved by Henry VIII. Mr Monkey didn't have time to visit the cathedral properly, so after a quick look at the 1974 Addlestone belltower and the east end of the cathedral, he carried on walking the walls.

You can read about the cathedral at the Chester Cathedral website.
