Mr Monkey on the battlefield of Waterloo

"It was a valiant defence, but I'm not crossing that road"

Mr Monkey marched down the road a little, to La Haie-Sainte farm, which both Wellington and Napoleon considered vital to winning the battle. The King's German Legion defended this farmhouse from two o'clock to half past six; when the farmhouse finally fell, too late for it to do Napoleon much good, the Legion had been reduced from 1000 men to 42. There's a plaque on the side of the wall, but Mr Monkey didn't fancy playing in traffic to get a close look at it.
