Mr Monkey in the footsteps of Jane Austen, 3rd June

"She would live at the wrong end of the longest street"

Mr Monkey scampered down Argyle Street until he arrived at Laura Place. He stopped for a moment to admire an interesting looking chemists, then looked down Great Pulteney Street. This is the longest and widest street in Bath. From 1801 to 1805 Jane Austen lived with her parents and her sister Cassandra in Sydney Place, at the far end of the street. She'd have preferred Laura Place, but the lodgings there cost too much. Mr Monkey could have seen the outside of the house Jane lived in, but he would have had to walk all the way to the end of the longest street in Bath and back.

Mr Monkey spotted one of King Bladud's pigs in Lauren Place.
