Mr Monkey in Southwark Cathedral

"I think you're supposed to play spot the Shakepearian character"

Mr Monkey looking at the monument to William Shakespeare Mr Monkey looking at the crossing

Mr Monkey scurried up the south aisle of the nave. He stopped to look at the Shakepeare memorial. The figure was carved by Henry McCarthy in 1912, and the glass window is a 1954 design by Christopher Webb replacing an earlier window broken during the war. Of course, Shakespeare's bones are in Stratford-upon-Avon, but his brother Edmund is buried here. When he got to the crossing, Mr Monkey was interested to spot that someone had put up a temporary stand for a choir in the middle of the cathedral.
