Mr Monkey took a last look at the Vasa from above, then he scampered down all the stairs he could find until he was right down at the keel of the ship. Down there, he realised how little ship there was below the lower gundeck, and how unstable the ship was likely to be. Before the ship sailed, they'd actually abandoned some stability tests because the ship was rocking about too much, but kept quiet about it to avoid upsetting the king.
