Mr Monkey thought that the Victorian room was a bit cluttered, with lots of things that would need dusting. Reaction against this style led to the Aesthetic movement, who apparently favoured purity of style and harmonious colours. Mr Monkey claimed that the Aesthetic wallpaper gave him a headache, and blamed Oscar Wilde.
