One day in February, Mr Monkey thought that it would be a good idea to have a trip to celebrate the fact that nothing had been done to celebrate Mr Rik's birthday in January. When no-one was looking, he booked a flight to New York, and a hotel in downtown Manhattan. So that's where they went.

February 23
Mr Monkey flies into JFK airport, takes a taxi into downtown Manhattan, and inspects the seaport area and the Brooklyn Bridge by day and by night. (7 pages)

February 24
Mr Monkey takes the ferry past the Statue of Liberty, lands on Ellis Island, visits Castle Clinton, walks through streets in the snow, and takes the A train. (24 pages)

February 25
Mr Monkey walks around Roosevelt Island, takes the aerial tramway back into Manhattan, walks some city streets, visits the Gates in Central Park, visits the Metropolitan, and walks down 5th Avenue to the Village Vanguard. (33 pages)

February 26
Mr Monkey looks at the underneath of the Brooklyn Bridge, skirts Chinatown, visits the East Side Tenement Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art, eats with friends, and looks at Times Square. (10 pages)

February 27
Mr Monkey tours the Empire State Building, visits the Cast Iron district and Washington Square, then takes a nighttime ride on the Staten Island Ferry. (29 pages)

February 28
Mr Monkey looks at the outside of the Seaport Museum, takes a walk on Wall Street, looks at the outside of some historic ships, takes a car to the airport, and flies home. (20 pages)
