Downstairs, in the kitchen, Campbell had installed a very expensive brick oven, which is still used sometimes. The doors in the back of the dining room open into the servants passage, and the mirror above the fireplace allowed a servant to peek in through one of the doors and see whether any of the diners needed anything.
