The RAF used about 200 Boeing B17 Flying Fortresses (out of a total of 12731 made), but this one, a G model with a chin turret, is displayed as part of the 'Friendly Invasion' display about the American Air Force in Britain. After the war it was converted to a fire fighting plane in California, until it was flown to the museum in 1983.
