Mr Monkey takes a Mancunian Canal Cruise, 13th October

"Actually, I'd quite like to go through those locks and down the Ship Canal"

Mr Monkey peered out at the Mode Wheel Locks. These take ships 13 feet down into the lower section of the Manchester Ship Canal, and are opened by hydraulics controlled from a nearby tower. The name 'Mode Wheel' is derived from Maude's Wheel, a medieval watermill that was demolished when the canal was built. With the boat pointing back towards Manchester, Mr Monkey was able to study the MediaCityUK development. When it's finished this will house the BBC, ITV, and, apparently every creative person in the north west.

You can read about the complex at the MediaCityUK website.
