Mr Monkey was surprised to find out that Frank Matcham, probably the most prolific theatre architect ever, wasn't actually trained but learned his trade on the job. Looking around the circus Mr Monkey admired the way the framework of the Tower had been disguised, and thought Matcham had learnt his trade well. Like all circus rings in the world, the diameter of the ring is 42 feet*.
* It's all to do with the turning circle of horses, apparently.
