Mr Monkey at St Mary's Redcliffe, 14th May

"Apparently Handel liked to leave London to avoid his creditors"

Looking across to the south transept Mr Monkey admired the 1856 pulpit, carved by William Bennett. At the end of the north ambulatory Mr Monkey looked at the Handel window. This was installed 100 years after Handel died, as a memorial to the composer's frequent visits to his friend Thomas Broughton, St Mary Redcliffe's vicar.
