Mr Monkey at the Musical Museum, 2nd November

"I wish I could play the piano like that"

Mr Monkey looking at a Regina musical box Mr Monkey looking at a 1940 Ampico

Mr Monkey was shown around the gallery. He examined Regina disc musical box from 1899, which used changable metal discs to decide what note to play. A step forward for mechanical music making was the paper roll which meant that tunes didn't have to fit on one rotation of a disc. Mr Monkey marvelled as the 1940 Ampico Model B played. As it is American the keys move when it's playing.
