Mr Monkey in Portsmouth, 30th August

"I think I'm on the wrong side of the moat"

Mr Monkey looking down on the Spur Redoubt Mr Monkey looking at the Sally Port

Mr Monkey set off back to his hotel. He scampered along the path on top of the long curtain wall to the King's Bastion, where the walls turned inland (or did until they were knocked down). From the King's Bastion Mr Monkey looked down on the Spur Redoubt which is just some foundations now, then ran down some steps to the base of the wall. Here he found the sally port. Lord Nelson left Portsmouth by the sally port when he set out to what turned out to be the Battle of Trafalgar.
