Mr Monkey visits Prague Castle, 11th June

"It's not a very castle-like entrance to a castle"

To get to the north gate of the castle Mr Monkey had to cross a bridge over the Deer Moat and pass a guard. The Deer Moat is a natural gully originally used to defend the castle and later became a haven for wildlife. The north gate was built in the Renaissance and is the least important of the three gates into the castle. The guard's uniforms were designed in 1989 by Theodor Pištĕk, who also designed the costumes for the film Amadeus.
