Mr Monkey in the footsteps of Jane Austen, 3rd June

"So that river is called River, then?"

Mr Monkey carefully crossed a road called Orange Grove and walked along the Grand Parade. He looked over a parapet and saw the river Avon below him. As the name Avon is derived from afon, the Welsh for river, Mr Monkey isn't convinced they spent much time or imagination naming it. He did think the horse-shoe shaped weir was interesting though.
