Mr Monkey was most impressed by the 1/50 scale model of London Bridge. He saw the late medieval bridge in 1450 from the east, and the Tudor bridge in 1600 from the west. He was fascinated by the detail of the model. He examined the massive starlings around the piers of the bridge, which did quite a lot to restrict the passage of the Thames under the bridge, and admired Nonesuch House, a wooden building prefabricated in Flanders and assembled without a single nail, which replaced an earlier gatehouse.
