Mr Monkey at the National Railway Museum, 26th February

"It's shiny and it's green"

Mr Monkey looking at models of early locomotives Mr Monkey looking at an N.E.R. class M locomotive

Mr Monkey looked at a series of displays about the history of railways. He was particularly interested in the odd early locomotive designs. Then he arrived at a platform area where there were a pair of commuter trains. The first locomotive Mr Monkey inspected was a North Eastern Railway Class M 4-4-0, No. 1621, built in 1893. This was a D17 when Wilson Wordsell designed in it 1892.

You can read about the Class M at the LNER Encyclopedia website.
