Mr Monkey in Seattle, 30th January

"They could illuminate him a little better"

Following the monorail Mr Monkey came to Tilikum Place, a small triangle of land set aside during the Denny Hill regrade (when some of the higher bits of Seattle were removed). In 1907 the City of Seattle commissioned a statue of Chief Seattle, though it wasn't unveiled until 1912; there'd been a little bit of trouble earlier when the artist, James Wehn, threw his plaster cast into the ocean. Wehn also completely missed out the life size canoe that the commissioning committee had asked for. After he'd looked at the Chief, Mr Monkey scampered on to the Space Needle.
