Mr Monkey in London, 8th January

"It's a really interesting exhibition, you know"

Mr Monkey in front of Richard Newcourt's 1658 map of London Mr Monkey looking at Stanford's Library Map of London and its suburbs, 1886

Mr Monkey checked out of his hotel and set off towards London City Airport. On the way, he stopped off at the British Library to look at the London: A life in maps exhibition, where he spent longer than he expected examining the history of London depicted in an enormous collection of maps.

You can read about London: A life in maps at the British Library website.

Photography wasn't allowed in the exhibition, so when he got home Mr Monkey posed in front of Richard Newcourt's 1658 map of London from the back of the free exhibition guide (on the left), and the 1886 Stanford's Library Map of London and its suburbs from the book LONDON A life in maps by Peter Whitfield (on the right).
