Mr Monkey in Newcastle, 2nd December

"You'd have thought it would be a cannon, not a cannonball"

Saturday
Mr Monkey set off into Newcastle from his hotel. He stopped for a moment to look at the work being done on the Bonded Warehouse 40, which was severely damaged in a fire in March. At the other end of the street Mr Monkey found a roundabout beneath the Tyne Bridge, with the plans of an older street, Javel Groupe, and a medieval wharf laid out in bricks. There's even a little monument to mark the site. The pillar part is modelled on the Tyne Bridge, and the ball on top refers to the Cannon Inn which used to be more or less where the monument stands.
