Mr Monkey at St Bavo's Cathedral

"For a crypt, it's not as gloomy as you'd expect"

Mr Monkey found a set of stairs and scurried down into the crypt. Parts of the crypt are Romanesque from the 1150s, but the outer walls are 13th, 14th and 15th century work. Not only were there some fine 15th-16th century wall paintings, and the cathedral's own collection of art, but a collection of religious old masters from the Museum of Fine Arts.
