Mr Monkey in the Domein Raversijde, August 27th

"If you needed to escape from the tunnel, it probably wasn't too healthy outside"

By now, Mr Monkey was in the Saltzwedel Neu battery, built in 1941 to defend Ostende and later incorporated into the Atlantic wall. He scampered along dark tunnels, which connected different parts of the battery. The only illumination came from the escape hatches, which had been left open specially. Mr Monkey popped out of one, but all he could really see was grass and a tiny bit of sea.
