Mr Monkey climbed up onto a viewing platform that English Heritage have built inside of one the hollow D shaped towers on the west wall. He looked along the early 13th century west wall, and would have been able to see some 18th century barracks put up after the Jacobite rebellion, if the German Navy hadn't blown them up in 1914. Then he looked down onto Scarborough harbour, and the south bay, which seemed to be more waterlogged than earlier in the day.
