Mr Monkey set off through the exhibition. As well as looking at the walls for the short interviews with people in the city, he had to keep looking down at the floor to see the interesting facts that had been left on long strips of tape. He was surprised to find out that a man from Hulme invented the first working submarine, and that, in 1727, a woman from Manchester was the first person to put a lonely hearts ad in a newspaper (though she was later sent to a lunatic asylum).
