Mr Monkey in Chester, May 26th

"It's a grim and thrilling play, you know"

In the evening, Mr Monkey went to the Chester Gateway Theatre to see a play based on Mervyn Peake's books Titus Groan and Gormenghast. He thoroughly enjoyed Gormenghast, and was impressed by the way most of the cast played several roles. During the interval, Mr Monkey went outside and looked at his hotel, the Chester Crowne Plaza. It looks a lot better on the inside, where the car park is less noticable.

You can read about the theatre at the Gateway Theatre website, a review of the play at the Stage website and about the hotel at the InterContinental Hotels Group website.
