Mr Monkey in Chester, May 26th

"I don't think I'm in the safest part of this amphitheatre, you know"

Next to the church of St John, Mr Monkey found the exposed parts of the Roman amphitheatre. This - the largest amphitheatre in Britain with any stonework left, apparently - was rather carelssly lost after the Romans left, and only found again in 1929. Mr Monkey scampered through one of the entrances, and out onto the arena where Roman legions drilled and gladiatorial combats were held.
