Mr Monkey restarted his walk at the old gatehouse of St John's Priory. This is most of what's left of the Priory which was the headquarters of the Knight Hospitallers in England. At different times, the gatehouse has been the offices of the Master of the Revels and the Gentleman's Magazine, and has also been a tavern and a coffee house. Now it's part of the museum of the Order of St John and the St John Ambulance. Mr Monkey didn't stop to visit the museum, but trotted through the gate and up St John's Lane.
