Mr Monkey in Brussels, December 12th

"Good food, and a fine moustache"

Mr Monkey outside Le Chaloupe d'Or Mr Monkey with the statue of Charles Bul

Mr Monkey and his humans had lunch at Le Chaloupe d'Or, or De Gulden Boot, or the Golden Boat, on the Grand Place. After they'd eaten, they set off to the Gare Central to catch a train to the airport. On the way, Mr Monkey stopped to look at the statue of Charles Buls in the Place Agora. Besides having magnificent moustaches, Charles Buls was mayor of Brussels from 1881 to 1899, and spent a lot of his time trying to stop Leopold II knocking down the older bits of Brussels.

You can read what Buls had to say about urban design at the Cornell University library.
