Mr Monkey was delighted to find that he could clamber up a spiral staircase into the lamproom to inspect the light. When this was active, it could be seen for 11 nautical miles, and would flash twice every 20 seconds*. The light is suspended and weighted to ensure that it will be level whatever the waves are doing to the the ship, and Mr Monkey had some fun swinging the lamp about. He probably shouldn't have been doing that, really.
* 1 second flash, 3.5 seconds off, 1 second flash, 14.5 seconds off.
