Mr Monkey in Stockholm, August 15th

"They have some interesting buildings here"

Mr Monkey passing the Berns hotel Mr Monkey looking at the synagogue

Mr Monkey had decided to take a boat trip around Stockholm harbour, so he had to scamper down to the quay. His scampering took him past the Berns Hotel. This was built on reclaimed marshland and opened in 1863, but has been expanded since. Mr Monkey also had a quick peek at the Stora Synagogue, built in 1870, when all the Swedish laws against Judaism had been repealed.

You can read about the hotel at the Berns website and about the synagogue at the Beth Hatefutsoth website.
