Mr Monkey visits the Skansen

"Of course I understood the runes without looking at the sign"

Mr Monkey studying a Viking rune stone Mr Monkey passing a post office

There are four Viking rune stones in the Skansen, including this one from Södermanland. Mr Monkey glanced at the stone and announced that the runes read "Helgulv erected this stone in memory of Torfast his brother in law, Disa in memory of his brother", which, by some freakish coincidence, was exactly what it said on the sign next to the stone. Beyond the rune stone Mr Monkey found some more people in costume on the steps of a post office from Viserum in Småland.

You can read about runes, and see your name in a runic manner at the NOVA Online website.
