Scampering down Broad Street, Mr Monkey paused to look at the Mercat Cross. It looked remarkably like a unicorn perched on the top of a pole to Mr Monkey, and it used to mark the centre of the town. Further down the street, he spotted the house where Lord Darnley, second husband of Mary Queen of Scots, lived before he went to Edinburgh to be blown up and strangled.
