Mr Monkey ran back down the steps into Guardroom Square, and through the Inner Gate into the castle. He found that he could get a really good view of the Palace from the Bowling Green Gardens. The Palace was built by James V, who needed somewhere to live with his second French queen (the first one had died within sixth months of the marriage), after 1538.
