Halfway up the stairs, Mr Monkey stopped to look down at the crowd. Then he stayed stopped to listen to the great Salford poet John Cooper Clarke introduce the exhibition with a longish poem about late seventies fashion and a limerick which didn't rhyme*.

* He did promise it wouldn't rhyme, and it didn't.
