Mr Monkey in Stratford upon Avon

"They have a lot of good buildings here, you know"

Mr Monkey looking at a row of houses on Sheep Street Mr Monkey studying the town hall

Mr Monkey scampered along the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon. He noticed that the older houses in the centre where topped with tiles. This was because when they used thatching the town kept burning down so they changed to something less flammable. The Town Hall, on the corner of Sheep Street and Chapel Street was built under George III to replace an old market hall which had been carelessly filled with military supplies and exploded as part of the English Civil War. Mr Monkey began to wonder if the people of Stratford should really be trusted with matches.
