Mr Monkey sails to Westminster

"I don't think that's usually there"

Mr Monkey approaching an aircraft carrier Mr Monkey passing an aircraft carrier

As the boat set off back up to Westminster, Mr Monkey studied the aircraft carrier that someone had moored at Greenwich. He was a little alarmed to see that a pilot had lost interest in taking off at the last moment, and had left his plane on the end of the flight deck. The carrier's name was too small to be visible, but Mr Monkey could read its pennant number R06 on the side, so when he got home he could work out that it was HMS Illustrious.

You can read about HMS Illustrious at the Royal Navy website and what it was doing at Greenwich at the Olympic Bid News and Information website.
