Mr Monkey left the Cutty Sark, but, as he was walking away, he noticed there were some steps down into the dry dock at the stern of the ship. So he ran down them, and inspected the keel, which seems to be falling to pieces a bit. This is apparently what happens when you leave a ship out in the rain, but Mr Monkey was glad he hadn't seen it before going aboard.
