"It's a little hard to miss, really"

The main thing Mr Monkey noticed in Washington Square was the 77 foot high Washington Arch. A wooden arch was built to mark the centennial of George Washington becoming president; people liked the idea of the arch so much that they got the designer, Stanford White, to make a marble version as a more permament reminder.
