Mr Monkey in Harrogate and Ripon

"I'm not sure I really understand that"

Mr Monkey in the market place of Ripon Mr Monkey outside Ripon town hall

Mr Monkey scampered through the market in Ripon, which was being held in the Market Place. He marveled at the Obelisk, which, having been put up in 1702, is the oldest free-standing monumental obelisk in the country. It's topped with two symbols of the city - the horn, and the rowel spur. Mr Monkey had a quick look at the town hall, which is unusual because someone's carved EXCEPT YE LORD KEEP YE CITIE YE WAKEMAN WAKETH IN VAIN across the front. Wise words, indeed.
