Mr Monkey on the Embankment

"This is a fine place to visit, you know"

Mr Monkey with a statue of Captain Thomas Coram Mr Monkey outside the Foundling Museum

After he left his hotel, Mr Monkey left his luggage at St Pancras Station, and took his humans for a short walk to the Foundling Museum. Here they all found out all about the Foundling Hospital, set up by Captain Thomas Coram, who was horrified by the number of abandoned children dying on the streets of London in the early 18th century. After he'd seen the exhibitions of the Hospital's history, admired the art collection, and listened to some music by Handel (who was a great friend of the Hospital), Mr Monkey set off back to St Pancras and caught his train home.

You can read about the museum at the Foundling Museum website.
