Mr Monkey on the Embankment

"I like the collection of gnomes!"

Mr Monkey inside the Museum of Garden History Mr Monkey in the knot garden outside the museum

The Museum of Garden History is inside what used to be St Mary-at-Lambeth church, which explains the windows. Mr Monkey enjoyed scampering around exploring the history of gardening. Outside the museum, they have a knot garden with many different plants, and with the tombs of the Tradescants and of Captain Bligh. The Tradescants were plant collectors who introduced many plants, such as the tulip tree and the yucca plant, into Britain. They also opened the first public museum in Britain, and the Museum of Garden History is sited here largely because of their tomb.

There's lots of information about the museum, and the Tradescants, at the Museum of Garden History website.
