Mr Monkey in Hidden St Pancras

"Is it a tomb, or is it a telephone box ?"

Next, Mr Monkey scampered up to inspect the tomb of Sir John Soane, architect of the Dulwich Picture Gallery and developer of his house (which became the Sir John Soane Museum). This was erected in 1816 after Sir John's wife died in 1815, and is one of only two Grade I listed monuments in London*. Mr Monkey wanted to see it, to find out if it really was likely that it had inspired the design of British telephone boxes.

Is it likely that the tomb inspired the K2 phone box ? Here's some photographic evidence.

*The other is Karl Marx's tomb in Highgate Cemetery
