On the bridge, Mr Monkey looked up the gorge, and down the gorge, but he didn't get a very good view, because of the height of the railings. The Tontine Hotel, on the right of the second picture, was built so that visitors had somewhere posh to stay while they marvelled at the iron bridge and the industrial devastation along the gorge. After playing on the bridge, Mr Monkey jumped back into the car and drove home.
There's a good section about the iron bridge at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums website.
