Mr Monkey in Leeds

"There's lots of shiny things, you know"

Mr Monkey in front of a suit of Gothic armour Mr Monkey with a horned helmet made for Henry VIII

Mr Monkey spent the rest of the afternoon looking at the armour and weaponry in the display galleries. He was particularly taken by the strange helmet with the ugly face and the curly horns. This is part of a suit of armour made in Innsbruck and given to Henry VIII as a present in 1514; rather carelessly, someone lost the rest of the armour.

The Royal Armouries website has details of the Armouries in Leeds, London and Portsmouth.
