Mr Monkey tours Manchester Town Hall clock tower

Trip date : 12 December 2012
"I'm too small to need lifting through the ceiling"

Mr Monkey looking at the front door of the Town Hall Mr Monkey looking up at the ceiling of the entrance of the Town Hall

Because the giant Santa sits on a stand outside the front door of the Town Hall, Mr Monkey had to scurry underneath him to get in. He looked up and found that Santa was, as you'd expect, hollow. Inside the Town Hall Mr Monkey signed a form to say that any injuries he sustained on the tour would be entirely his own fault*. When the tour started, Mr Monkey was led back to the porch to look at the tiling on the floor and the royal coat of arms on the ceiling. The coat of arms is the bottom of a trap door that is lifted out of the way when anything large needs to be lifted in or out of the clock tower.

* More accurately, Mr Monkey signed a form to say everything would be Mr Rik's fault.
