Mr Monkey walks the Rochdale Canal through Manchester

Trip date : 4th May, 2011
"This is where the canal starts or finishes, depending on which way you're going"

Mr Monkey decided to start his walk along the Rochdale at the end of the canal, where it enters the Castlefield Basin. After examining the bridge at the end of the canal, Mr Monkey went and had a look along the canal from Lock 92. When the canal opened in 1804 the long straight stretch from Lock 92 to Deansgate was in a tunnel, and Mr Monkey wouldn't have seen much at all. Before letting Mr Monkey set off along the canal, his humans insisted on having a rather tasty snack at Dukes 92, the bar/restaurant on the canalside.

You can read about the bar at the Dukes 92 website.
