After leaving the Library, Mr Monkey scurried across the road (taking care to use the pedestrian lights) to admire the building from afar. He was particularly pleased to see the colour of the sandstone; the renovation involved removing a vast amount of soot from Mancunian factory chimneys which for many years had made the Library look very like a castle.
