Mr Monkey visits Ten Duinen 1138, 18th September

"Some of that brickwork looks too new to me"

Mr Monkey left the modern building and followed a path into some trees. Soon he found the excavated remains of the Abdij Ten Duinen. The abbey was mostly made of brick, with stone only used for pillars, arches and windows. Mr Monkey scampered around, inspecting the remains of the church - at 115 metres long one of the largest in Flanders - and the rest of the abbey. Mr Monkey couldn't quite work out if everything he could see was original or if someone had done some repairs.
